Small Town with Soda History
Located one and a half hours from Waco is a small town that once homed the world’s oldest Dr. Pepper bottling plant. For many years, the plant was the only U.S. source for Dr. Pepper made with real cane sugar. After some legal issues, the plant became home of the Dublin Bottling Works, who have sodas second to none. As part of lasting tradition, there is an annual Dr. Pepper Birthday celebration each June and includes a charity 10-2-4K run and the “Tour de Pepper” bicycle race.
Irish Roots
Dublin has an annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival in March. The week before the formal festivities, they hold Miss Dublin, Junior Miss Dublin, and Little Miss Dublin pageants. Several events follow an annual parade on St. Patrick’s Day in town, including craft and food vendors, a dog contest, and a gun show. It is a fun and celebratory time to remember their Irish roots. There is even a couple leprechauns who are happy to join you in a selfie or two.
